Privacy policy

Who we are

XYCalc (xycalc.com) is an independent website run from the United Kingdom. You can contact us at xycalculators@gmail.com. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the data controller for the information described below.

What you type into the calculators

Calculations happen in your browser. The numbers you enter are not sent to us and are not stored on our servers.

What is saved in your browser

To remember your choices, the site saves a few small items in your browser's local storage on your own device. They are not sent to us and are not used to track you. They are:

• Your favourite calculators
• Your light or dark theme choice
• The country you choose, or the country detected on your first visit, so amounts and units show correctly

You can remove them at any time by clearing the site's data in your browser.

Your country

When you first visit, our hosting provider tells us roughly which country the request came from, so we can show the right currency and units. We use this only to set your defaults. We do not store your IP address or keep a record of it.

Hosting and security

The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the pages and protect the site from abuse. See Cloudflare's own privacy policy for how it handles that data.

Statistics and search

We do not currently run visitor analytics. We use Google Search Console, which gives us combined search statistics, such as which searches lead to the site. It does not tell us anything about individual visitors. If we add analytics later, this page will say so first.

Advertising

XYCalc is free and is supported by advertising. Advertising companies, such as Google, may use cookies or similar technology to show ads and measure how they perform. Where the law requires it, we will ask for your consent before any non-essential cookies are used, and you will be able to change your mind.

This policy will be updated before advertising goes live, so that it names the companies involved and what they collect.

If you email us

We use your email address and message only to reply and, if needed, to fix a problem you reported. We do not add you to a mailing list or share your details. We delete emails when they are no longer useful.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, object to how we use it, and ask us to restrict it. Email xycalculators@gmail.com and we will respond within one month. Because the site holds almost no personal information, there is usually very little to find.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when anything changes, and change the date at the top.
